Education and Research Purposes

The School of Health and Social Services aims to "develop members of modern society who contribute to and holistically support people's health and lifestyles through their specialized knowledge and skills in the fields of health and social services, as well as the capabilities necessary to collaborate with various occupations, based on fair ethical principles and humanity" through education and research.

Educational Goals

[Well-rounded character]

To understand the significance of human existence and possess well-rounded character and morale to act with dignity and respect for basic human rights.

[Intelligence with creativity]

To perceive phenomena scientifically and objectively, and possess intelligence that proactively and creatively pursues discoveries based on critical thinking.

[Sophisticated expertise and cooperative skills]

To possess expertise capable of collaborating with many types of people while acquiring sophisticated knowledge and skills that respond to the society's trust and demands and leveraging knowledge and skills from a broad range of academic fields.

[Collaborations based on internationality and regionality]

To possess capabilities to collaborate with the local communities and carry out activities according to their characteristics, while also understanding issues pertaining to public health, medical care and social work from a global perspective.

Education and Research Purposes

Master's Program

The master's program at SPU Graduate School of Health and Social Services aims to "develop human resources who possess capabilities to develop effective solutions for issues pertaining to their expertise based on interdisciplinary approaches that combine interprofessional knowledge and skills, and sustainably support people's health and lifestyles" through education and research.

Doctoral Program

The doctoral program at SPU Graduate School of Health and Social Services aims to "develop professionals, researchers and educators with sophisticated expertise and capabilities to promote advanced research from a global perspective based on interdisciplinary approaches that corroborate interprofessional knowledge and skills for their fields of expertise, and develop innovative health science theories and technology" through education and research.

Educational Goals

Master's Program

The master's program at SPU Graduate school of Health and Social Services aims:

  • To develop leaders and administrators playing central roles in facilities, communities and administrative institutions
  • To develop human resources who can systematically organize what they have practiced on-site, and communicate issues in the health, medicine and welfare fields
  • To develop human resources who scientifically analyze and verify practical knowledge, skills and experiences acquired on-site, and seek career development in their professions

Doctoral Program

The doctoral program at SPU Graduate School of Health and Social Services aims to foster the following competencies:

  • The competency to develop theories, supporting technology and systems that resolve issues pertaining to health as researchers, educators or professionals with sophisticated expertise that play central and leading roles in the health science field
  • The competency to develop solutions for challenging issues in health science that existing expertise cannot resolve, based on research conducted with interdisciplinary cooperation
  • The competency to develop and implement models that broadly support people's health
