Students master scientific knowledge and technical methodology
A physical therapists is a profession that supports holistic and comprehensive rehabilitation. Physical therapy scientifically analyzes the functions of the mind and body, improves mainly physical functions, as well as prevents and alleviates impairments. In exercise therapy, for example, training is conducted based on exercise physiology and theories, and in physiotherapy ultrasonic waves and light rays such as infrared rays and lasers are used. Furthermore, students wear artificial limbs and orthosis to practice basic movements necessary for daily life. Physical therapists are also involved in daycare, home-visit rehabilitation, development of nursing care and home renovations, and play a significant role in a broad realm of health science and nursing care, in addition to medical care. The students in this department learn medicine-based scientific knowledge and technological methodology to become top runners creating the future.

Based on the diploma policy, the Department of Physical Therapy incorporates a phased curriculum starting from basic medical classes to specialized physical therapy classes: (1) For freshmen, "Introduction to Kinesiology" and "Physical Therapy and Human Relations" to develop interpersonal skills to work in the medical and welfare fields; (2) For sophomores, "Clinical Practice I" and other subjects that focus on observation and hands-on experience to enhance orientation and motivation towards physical therapy; (3) For juniors and seniors, a required curriculum of contents and subjects based on the Designation Regulations for Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist Schools and Training Institutes.

In addition, the department also offers (4) Track-based electives to acquire scientific logic and professional specificity pertaining to physical therapy; (5) Fieldwork courses with interprofessional collaboration and integration or emphasis on interprofessional problem-based learning (PBL) to acquire problem-solving skills; and (6) Physical therapy seminars including Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) to enhance clinical practicability.
